== Overview ==

A variety of pipe connection types are available in automet® FAB. The weldolet pipe connection serves as the default option and can be modified as needed.

Because piping specifications can change at a connection point, the pipe schedule can also be adjusted (commonly required with small-diameter connectors). If you are unsure of the schedule, use the default standard schedule (STD).

When creating a fitting-to-fitting connection where the schedule matches the drawing, the branch length must correspond with the drawing dimension. To achieve this, adjust the specification of the branch flange.

Pipe connections can be '''rolled''' or '''offset''':
* '''Offset:''' The flange face remains aligned with the grid lines.
* '''Rolled:''' The flange remains square to the fitting, but is rotated off the main grid.

Because pipe specifications can change at a connection, the pipe schedule can also be adjusted which is common with small-diameter connectors. If you are unsure, use the default, standard schedule (STD).
Pipe connections (PC) are used when adding pipe supports such as shoes and trunnions.

When creating a fitting to fitting where the schedule is set to match the drawing, the branch length should correspond with the drawing length. To get this, the user can adjust the specification of the branch flange.

Pipe connections can be '''rolled''' or '''offset'''. The distinction between these two is that the flange face remains on the grid when offset. When rolled, the flange remains square to the fitting but is not on the grid line.
Supports can be created in several physical geometries, including plate, box, or cylinder forms.

Cylinders allow you to choose the specification of the pipe.
Coordinates can be entered in millimetres as grid offsets (rectangular) or as a bearing and distance (polar) using the polar/rectangular toggle button. Most pipe connectors (such as latrolets and weldoflanges) have fixed fitting lengths defined by the component database, with the exception of stab-ins, trunnions, and shoes.

Below is a pipe connection with a roll. The weldolet is rolled 20 mm south of the pipe's centre line, which means the connector revolves around the pipe at an angle of 7.55°. The image shows both the rectangular and the polar coordinates. By using the polar/rectangular button, the values can be entered in mm as grid offsets (rectangular) or as a bearing and a distance (polar). Other pipe connectors, like latrolets and weldoflanges are fittings with lengths established by the database. The exceptions are stab-ins, trunnions and shoes.

Pipe Connections
Configuring branch connectors, stab-ins, supports, offsets, and rolls in automet® FAB.

Overview

A variety of pipe connection types are available in automet® FAB. The weldolet pipe connection serves as the default option and can be modified as needed.

Because piping specifications can change at a connection point, the pipe schedule can also be adjusted (commonly required with small-diameter connectors). If you are unsure of the schedule, use the default standard schedule (STD).

When creating a fitting-to-fitting connection where the schedule matches the drawing, the branch length must correspond with the drawing dimension. To achieve this, adjust the specification of the branch flange.

Pipe connections can be rolled or offset:

  • Offset: The flange face remains aligned with the grid lines.
  • Rolled: The flange remains square to the fitting, but is rotated off the main grid.
