Site Survey Analysis & Fit
Transforming initial site survey data to optimal orientation for fabrication deliverables.

Site Survey Data Alignment

The initial report from a site survey generates in the default orientation. Similar to a fabrication spool report, the survey data is best-fit to the design data.

While a fabrication spool report is typically close to the required orientation, a site survey orientation may initially be unusable because a preliminary design (`.DES`) file is often used. Nominal values in preliminary designs can differ significantly from actual field conditions.

Operators must transform the survey data to establish a clearer orientation. No data is corrupted during transformation adjustments.

1. Default Fit Orientation
The default setting where flange Position is optimized across least-squares averaging.
2. Alignment Fit Transform
Transform 1 with the Fit Preference slider shifted toward Alignment to improve face parallelism.
3. Axis Rotation Transform
Transform 2 rotates the flange assembly directly to align with the X-axis reference line.
Translating Survey Data to Optimal Orientation

Video guide: Translating Survey Data to Optimal Orientation

Summary: Demonstrates an alternative transformation sequence to quickly align site survey observations to shop reference axes.

Transforming survey data is the critical first phase in generating user-friendly fabrication deliverables, making inspection reports intuitive for shop personnel to interpret and manufacture.

Mastering analysis fit parameters ensures generated spool drawings are fully optimized for workshop fabrication.
