Alternative Stop Point Placement
Overriding stop point measurements during restricted physical access in automet® FAB.

Overview

During site surveys—particularly in confined environments such as ships or offshore modules—physical obstructions may prevent direct access to the required stop point location on a flange.

In these circumstances, the stop point can be measured on adjacent structure, such as a nearby bulkhead or adjacent pipe support.

Override Procedure

When measuring an alternative stop point:

  1. Position the prism on the adjacent structure as close as possible to the intended stop point location.
  2. Capture the point observation. The system will initially reject the measurement due to geometric tolerance limits.
  3. Measure the exact same point location a second time. Upon the second capture, automet® FAB overrides the warning and accepts the observation.
